New media art is different from any previous art form.With the development of science and technology,the close combination of art and science has brought more possibilities to new media art.The expression of new media art has become increasingly diverse,breaking the simple viewing mode of traditional art and bringing unprecedented experience to audiences.In this way,the audience is no longer the viewer but the participant and creator of the artwork,which narrows the distance between the artist and the audience.As a concept of psychology,immersion is increasingly familiar to the public in the modern society.With the development of internet technology,the number of information that people receive is rising,leading to more fragmented time and constantly dispersed attention.As a result,it is difficult for people to concentrate on doing one thing.This does show the importance of immersion.The so-called immersion is to put one's heart and soul into one thing,who is completely attracted by the situation in which he is located,so that he ignores time,space and self-awareness to achieve the state of self-forgetting.Nowadays,the immersive experience has become the main way to experience new media art.It covers a wide range of topics including behavioral science,environmental science,psychology(cognitive psychology,psychology of emotion,etc.)and integrated media.From the perspective of psychology,behavioral psychology,psychology of emotion,cognitive psychology and Gestalt psychology,the application and development of the immersive experience in new media art is studied through the analysis of the artistic characteristics of new media art.The emergence of the immersive experience changes the way that the public has experienced the art works in the past,and increases the audience's sense of presence and participation.Apart from this,the identity of the audience has changed from bystander to participant and creator on an unprecedented scale.The author studies the immersive experience in new media art exhibitions through field research,literature summary and art creation methodology,in order to let the public understand new media art deeply and be aware of the artist's creative purpose and emotion.In this way,while appreciating art works,the audience can better integrate into them instead of just regarding them as entertainment.
