With the comprehensive development of core literacy in teaching for the cultivation of people's all-round and lifelong development,more and more English teachers have incorporated the cultivation of core literacy into English teaching design,especially in reading.The training of thinking quality is a big difference comparing with the traditional English reading class,but in the actual teaching,quite a few teachers ignore the thinking content of the task,confine to text information processing and pay more attention to the explicit and measurable cultivation of knowledge and skills.Therefore,the students are less motivated to learn in English reading class.They have less communication and cooperation and the learning effect is not obvious,which is not helpful for the cultivation of students' reading thinking quality.Through the theoretical study about English reading thinking quality and the learning community home and abroad,based on the social constructivism,cooperative learning theory and social learning theory,an action research has been carried out in Ningbo H Junior High School for three and a half months(three rounds).First of all,interviews and a pretest are carried out to understand the present situation of the students' English reading thinking quality.Then,through the establishment of a cooperative and equal relationship between student and student,rational grouping of the students and guidance of cooperative countermeasures,learning community is preliminarily constructed.After that,combining reading class instances,teacher's design of challenging problems,evaluation and reflection to gradually improve the construction of learning community.In the course of the study,the teacher goes deep into reading classes,taking classroom recording,video,observation,interviews and other methods to collect data.After three rounds of research,a posttest is conducted.After a comparative study of the results,combining the thinking observation scale and interviews,it is found that the students' English reading thinking quality has been obviously improved,which shows the English reading classes based on learning community can effectively cultivate the English reading thinking quality of junior high school students,so as to promote the students' core literacy.Hope this study can help more English educators understand and reasonably use the learning community in teaching,enhance their confidence and research awareness in attaching importance to the cultivation of English reading thinking quality and promote the effective improvement of the English reading thinking quality of junior high school students.
