Study Of Artistic Conception Realization Of Emanation Fictive Motion Based On Conceptual Blending Theory

Mo Yan is the only Chinese winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature and a famous contemporary Chinese writer of root-seeking literature.His works with rich ideological connotations are full of complex emotions of nostalgia and resentment by combining folk stories,history and contemporary society with hallucinatory realism.Artistic conception in the novel refers to the deep thoughts and emotions achieved by the scenes depicted in the literary works.The artistic conception of the novel is the medium of highlighting the author's thoughts and emotions.This thesis uses Mo Yan's four novels,Big Breasts and Wide Hips,Frog,POW and Red Sorghum as the research materials,regards emanation fictive motion expressions in the selected novels as the research object,and utilizes concept blending theory as the theoretical foundation.This paper analyzes the cognitive process of emanation fictive motion expressions by conceptual blending theory,highlights the tension of emanation fictive motion expressions in the realization of artistic conception from the dimensions of characters,themes and cultures,and provides a new angle for further interpreting Mo Yan's works and understanding the background and cultural characteristics of works.Fictive motion,referring to the use of dynamic expression to describe the things in the static statement,is proposed by the famous American linguist Talmy in 2000.Emanation fictive motion as a typical sub-type of fictive motion can be divided into orientation path,radiation path,shadow path and sensory path.This paper selects concept blending theory as the theoretical basis of the research,and analyzes the special language phenomenon of fictive motion from the perspective of cognitive mechanism.Through the blending of the real motion input space and the static state input space,the static things can be expressed in a dynamic manner.Based on concept blending theory,this paper analyzes the author's artistic conception by exploring the formation process of emanation fictive motion in Mo Yan's works,savoring the author's writing style,figuring out the shaping of character images,and understanding the background and the culture of the selected works.In this study,the findings can be illustrated in the three aspects.Firstly,the distribution of emanation fictive motion in the four novels are unequal by taking the method of close reading to classify the emanation fictive motion expressions in Mo Yan's selected novels.Secondly,this thesis proves the explanatory power of conceptual blending theory to analyze the cognitive process of emanation fictive motion expressions with the real motion schema in the input space?and different elements in the input space?undergoing the single-scope blending in the blend space.Thirdly,with the conceptual blending network,the role of emanation fictive motion in the realization of artistic conception is achieved differently.In the orientation path of Mo Yan's Big Breasts and Wide Hips,prospect path expressions can represent toughness,forecast the plot of the novel and reveal the emotion of a character.Related to human body actions,demonstrative and targeting path expressions contribute more to the shape of different images in the artistic conception realization.As for the artistic conception realization of shadow path in Mo Yan's POW,shadow as figure expressions in shadow path stand for family reunion,construct the image of character and demonstrate the feature of hallucinatory realism in the novel.Shadow as ground expressions in shadow path provide background information and detailed description for the topic or the agent.In terms of the artistic conception realization of radiation path in Mo Yan's Frog,the linear radiation expressions tend to develop the image of characters,while the non-radiation expressions forecast the development of the plot and make a contribution to the feature of hallucinatory realism in the novel.Regarding the artistic conception of sensory path in Mo Yan's Red Sorghum,the experiencer as source expressions shape the images of characters in a direct way while the experienced as source expressions offer background description for the images of characters.In addition,this thesis provides a new perspective for readers and translators to better comprehend Mo Yan's works and understand his intention.It also plays a certain role in promoting Chinese local culture and traditional culture to go out to the world.
