Mental health is an important issue in people's life,is an important indicator to measure individual health. However,as an important factor affecting mental health, collective guilt has not attracted the attention of domestic scholars. At the same time, the important influence of self-forgiveness on mental health, collective guilt and the relationship between them is also worthy of scholars' attention. It has been known that collective guilt,as a kind of group emotion, has an important impact on individuals' mental health, and individuals can benefit from self-forgiveness when they suffer from feelings of guilt caused by traumatic events or situations without their own direct fault.Accordingly, this study will explore the effects of self-forgiveness and collective guilt on mental health.Because collective guilt needs to be measured by situational elicitation completion scale, certain elicitation materials will be selected in this study.Through combing the research in mental health related fields,it is found that many scholars have emphasized the effect of environmental changes on mental health. In recent years, environmental changes,as future injury events, are the key content of collective guilt inducing materials. Therefore,in this study,we will take the future environmental change events as the background materials to induce collective guilt, and carry out in-depth research on the impact of self-forgiveness and collective guilt on mental health. In terms of measurement tools, reviewing the few domestic literatures,we can see that there is no effective measurement tool suitable for collective guilt in Chinese culture. In order to carry out the research smoothly and provide the measurement basis for the future related research, this study firstly tested the reliability and validity of the foreign Collective Guilt Scale, and based on this, carried out the relevant research on the impact of self-forgiveness and collective guilt on mental health.Based on the full discussion of the connotation, the measurement, the theoretical relationship of self-forgiveness,collective guilt, mental health. And combined the previous studies and a series of measurement tools to discuss the impact of self-forgiveness and collective guilt on mental health, such as Heartland Forgiveness Scale,College Students' State-Strait Guilt Scale,Simplified version of Questionnaire of Group Identification,Mental Health Continuum Short Form, and the Chinese version of Collective Guilt Scale. In the process of the study, the subjects need to read the relevant induced materials first, and then fill in the relevant measurement tools according to the actual feelings after reading. In the data processing part,SPSS22.0 and Amos22.0 are used as tools, and correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, difference test, regression analysis and other data analysis methods are adopted for data. The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)The Chinese version of the collective guilt scale has a good reliability and validity, including three sub scales of Collective Guilt Acceptance,Collective Guilt Assignment and Accountability of Whole Group, with a total of 15 items, which can be used for relevant studies of collective guilt in the context of Chinese culture.(2)From the perspective of demographic variables, gender differences in collective guilt and mental health are significant, while differences in self-forgiveness are not significant. The level of self-forgiveness of only children is significantly higher than that of non-only children.Meanwhile, gender differences in collective guilt and mental health are not significant.(3)There was a significant positive correlation between self-forgiveness and collective guilt. That is,the level of collective guilt of the participants will change with the change of self-forgiveness,and the level of collective guilt will increase with the increase of self-forgiveness.(4)At different levels of self-forgiveness,the effects of collective guilt on mental health vary.Under the low self-forgiveness level, with the increase of collective guilt, their mental health level is also getting higher. At a high level of self-forgiveness,with the increase of collective guilt, the level of mental health also changed, but it did not reach a statistically significant level.
