Researchers pay more attention on the effect of repeated stimulus. It may result in priming or repetition blindness.Previous studies have found that repetition blindness can occur at both perceptual and semantic levels, and it is related to the inhibition of attention. As for the existence of bilingual advantage, there is no consensus in researches. In this study,we aims to investigate two questions: first,we compare the repetition blindness effect from high and low proficient bilinguals to explore whether or not there is advantage of attention inhibition in high proficient bilingual and the condition it is presented.Second,we wonder which level the repetition blindness effect occurs. Is it occur at perceptual or semantic level or at both? This study consists of three experiments, each with 30 high and 30 low proficient bilinguals, respectively. These three experiments all adopt the repetition blindness paradigm, which were 2󫎾 three-factor mixed design. The correct report rate of repeated stimulus S2 was used as the dependent variable. The group of participants was the between-subject factor and the repeatability of condition was one of the within-subject factor.Another factor varied with different experiments. In experiment 1,we concerned the size of repetition blindness effect for Chinese and English processing in two groups. In the second and the third experiments,we focused on the repetition blindness effect of negative word with identical orthography or valence for two groups, too. In the latter two experiments, word type was another within-subject factor and neutral word was one of its level. We found that:(1)in experiment 1,the main effects of three factors and the two-way and three-way interactions between them were all significant. In the analysis of RB effect, the main effects and interaction effect were significant,too.(2)In experiment 2,the results pattern was identical to those of the experiment 1,so were in the analysis of RB effect.(3)In experiment 3,three factor had significantmain effect as well as the two-way interaction effect between word type and repeatability was significant. In the analysis of RB effect, the main effect of word type was significant. The conclusions of our study are as follow: the RB effect for negative words is universal and it could occur both at the perceptual and the semantic level. Moreover, bilingual experience has effect on individual's attention inhibition, however, the positive effect is merely presented at perceptual processing. In addition, encoding effectness has substantial influencial on the RB effect.
