Research On The Localization Development Of American Modern Dance In China

As one of the three great art masters of the 20 th century,Martha Graham once stated that her thought was deeply influenced by Chinese Taoism,and numerous data indicated that there are inextricable links between Martha and China at the same time.This paper took modern dance as the entrance,and studied the correlation between Martha Graham and the development of Chinese modern dance.Through the collection of the data,and comparison on their time correlation and the development of Chinese modern dance,we found that the trajectory and important nodes of Martha’s modern dance system in China are closely related to the development of Chinese modern dance.The paper depicted the objective appearance of the interrelationship between the two,not only depicted the phenomenon,but also explained and discussed its causes,characteristics,meanings,etc.,then summarized the implication behind the changes of Chinese modern dance from the form imitation of western modern dance,to bottling Chinese culture wine in western modern dance,and finally to the core interpretation.Took Martha as an example,through a series of clues,we can outline the road map and timetable of the development of foreign culture in Chinese style.The modern dance represented by Martha Graham first appeared in the Chinese vision as a new thing;Then,with the continuous in-depth communication and learning,Martha’s technology has been used and changed the concept of Chinese dance;China has been constantly reflecting on its exploration from the aspects of concept to emotions then to spirituals.Until today,Chinese modern dance has formed its own style system.When we see the current achievements of the new form of Chinese modern dance,we should not ignore the transformation process behind this phenomenon and China’s efforts to change the psychological structure of traditional culture.The author hopes to peek into the strategies and meanings behind the localization of western culture through the perspective of dance,and the attitude that we should uphold in heterogeneous cultural exchanges and interactions,so as to provide a reference for how to learn from foreign cultures and build a "symbiotic" relationship.This paper presented the appearance of "’Martha’ in China" through four chapters from different perspectives.The chapter 1 began with the analysis of the starting point of Chinese modern dance,and discussed the initial appearance of "Martha in China".It shook Chinese Dance by a new form.The entry of this new form of Martha’s modern dance coincided with the "change-seeking" stage of Chinese dance.The chapter 2 analyzed the relationship between Chinese modern dance and Martha’s technical system,teaching and training system,and thetwo points that how the it affected Chinese modern dance development from point to line,and then from line to surface through the two main lines in North and South China.Therefore,this stage of "’Martha’ in China" mainly brought changes to the body and remodeling of concepts in China from technical aspect.In chapter 3,by contrasting the different development stages of modern dance between China and the West,we constructed Chinese modern dance by seeing the same in the different,the different in the same.Therefore,"’Martha’ was the object for China modern dance to reflect in that period.Because at that time,China has cultivated the ability to reflect and construct.In chapter 4,through the different meanings of "Martha in China",we have seen the development of Martha Graham’s modern dance as a new thing in this new environment in China,and we have also seen the development of modern dance in China.Growth process.In chapter 4,through the different meanings of "Martha in China",we have seen the development of Martha Graham’s modern dance as a new thing in this new environment in China,and we have also seen the growth process of modern dance in China."’Martha’ in China" has provided us with a reference strategy and development model for localization of foreign cultures.In fact,foreign cultures have been invading from time to time,how to build a balance between localization and internationalization?
