Hemingway and Jack London are two famous writers of American realism in the early twentieth century.Their works not only profoundly reflect the reality of American society in that era,but also more deeply convey their observation and understanding of life and social reality.The two writers have extensive and profound influences all over the world.Their works not only reflect the reality of American society in that era,but also convey their observation and recognition of life and social reality.Besides,they are rich in content and profound in theme and are very popular among readers.In many of their works,the texts on the theme of life highlight the common ideological and cultural characteristics of the two,as well as the expressions of similarities and differences.Therefore,through comparative researches on their works,we can sort out and analyze the similarities and differences on their writing styles,which is of great significance for understanding the connotation of their works and further exploring their life consciousness.This paper will analyze their works from three aspects:? The connotation of life theme in two writers' works.By analyzing Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea,Kilimanjaro's Snow,Farewellto Arms,etc.Jack.London in Martin Eden,Love Life and other works to explore the profound connotation on life them in both works.The old man in The Old Man and the Sea failed to return but his spirit was not down.Harry in Kilimanjaro's Snow went from fear of death to accepting death,and the confusion and helplessness conveyed in Farewell to Arms Still persistent belief in life;Martin Eden,Martin commits to suicide after unremitting efforts for success and disappointment on society.With tenacious life will,the gold diggers in Love Life did not lose their lives in the end.All of these reflected two 's view on life and death.At the same time,through the analysis of other works,the protagonists 'understanding and pursuit of life dignity are explored.? The expression of life them in their works.This part will focus on two writers' similarities and differences on life them and their way of expression by analyzing the specific characters in two works,their respective plot patterns and language styles.Jack in Hemingway's work finds a way out for himself;Henry faces multiple blows on his mind and continues to face life firmly;Robert.Jordan's spirit of heroic devotion to the cause he loves embodies Hemingway's life consciousness that he is not easily defeated.In London's works,Parker Sue devotion on love,Buck ' s ability to survive and adapt to the environment,and Rivera struggle for the revolutionary cause,reflect London's determined life consciousness.Secondly,there are people and nature plots of fightingbetween people and self,and simple,symbolic and other language styles in their works.All of these shows their life consciousness.? The exploration of the living consciousness of the two writers.By analyzing Hemingway and Jack.London 's life experience,exploring the formation process of their life consciousness,the influence of time and social background on their life consciousness,the relationship between their death outcome and their life consciousness,etc.we will make a further in-depth exploration of the consciousness of death and values of life contained in their life consciousness,which will trigger our deep thinking.
