Feedback is a significant way to strengthen classroom teaching and provide personalized guidance during the teaching process.Teacher feedback is an indispensable link to optimize the teaching process and achieve the harmony between teaching and learning.Teacher feedback is the information of feedback on the completion of learning tasks in order to improve and enhance students.It can not only help students correct mistakes in learning process,but also affect students' emotions and classroom participation.Only when students feel the encouragement and care from teacher's feedback,will they participate more actively and efficiently in classroom teaching.Scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of research on teacher feedback and achieved rich results,but the research on the impact of teacher feedback on students' classroom participation is less concerned.In this study,4 junior high school teachers and 175 junior high school students were taken as the research objects.Classroom observation,questionnaire survey and interview were used to study the classroom feedback of junior high school teachers.Based on comprehensible input hypothesis,affective input hypothesis,interaction hypothesis theory and proximal development zone theory,this study raises the following four research questions for the purpose of this study:(1)what's the current situation of junior high school students' classroom participation?(2)how is the teacher's classroom feedback used?(3)what is the teacher's understanding of feedback and the impact of feedback on students' classroom participation?(4)what impact does teacher feedback have on students' classroom behavior,cognition and emotional participation?After the research,The following conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall participation of junior high school English students is not optimistic.Specifically,in the behavioral participation aspect,thestudents' participation in behaviors such as listening attentively and taking notes is the highest,while the students' participation in behaviors such as raising their hands to speak and asking questions is the lowest.In the cognitive participation aspect,the shallow cognitive participation is more than the deep cognitive participation.In the emotional participation aspect,although positive emotional participation is higher than negative emotional participation,but its score is not high.(2)In English class,the frequency of simple feedback from teachers is higher than that of detailed feedback,among which the frequency of simple praise is the highest,and the frequency of simple negation is the lowest.In the positive feedback,the use of simple positive feedback is more than detailed positive feedback;In the negative feedback,detailed negative feedback is more frequent than simple negative feedback.(3)the importance of classroom feedback has become a general knowledge among English teachers.Teachers will pay attention to their own feedback intentionally,but seldom reflect on it after class.(4)different types of teacher feedback have different impacts on students' behavior,cognition and emotional participation.In terms of behavior participation,simple praise and detailed positive feedback can promote students' behavior participation,while simple negation will bring about a blow to students' behavior participation.In terms of cognitive participation,teachers' repetition of students' correct answers and direct error correction can improve students' shallow cognitive participation.Detailed feedback can promote students' deep cognitive involvement.In terms of emotional participation,teachers often use simple praise such as “Good”,which basically does not promote students' emotional participation.However,teachers can improve students' emotional participation by changing the sentence pattern of simple praise with fresh feelings.Teachers' detailed positive feedback will promote students' emotional participation;Simple negative feedback will hinder students' emotional participation,but detailed negative feedback will not have a negative impact on students' emotionalparticipation.This study explores the impact of teacher feedback on student classroom participation,with a view to providing some references and suggestions for junior high school English classroom teaching,hoping to help junior high school English teachers pay attention to and improve teacher feedback,thereby promoting students to participate actively in classroom activities and improve English learning efficiency.
