On The Effects Of Different Adhesives On The Tone Quality Of The Piano

As the last lever in the piano action,the hammer converts the pressure exerted by the pianist on the keys into the kinetic energy of the hammer's onward motion,so as to make the sound by striking the strings.There are strict quality and operation requirements for the material selection,processing technique and material specification of the hammer in piano production process,as well as for the grinding of the hammer and density of the hammer felt during the adjustment of the piano tuner.This shows that there is a necessary and important connection between the performance of the hammer and the tone quality of the piano.The study further suggests that the adhesive used in the hammer is also crucial to the quality of the hammer.This paper aims to point out the effects of different types of adhesives used between the wooden core of the hammer and the hammer felt on the sound quality,and put forward suggestions that can be used in the production process.
