Margaret Atwood is a famous Canadian writer and female writer around the world.Her works are rich in contents to Feminism,Eco-consciousness,Post-colonial Theory and Right Awareness.In her novels,there are a large of prototypes of Bible,folktale and ancient Greek mythology which are used repeatedly.This paper uses Frye's myth-archetypal criticism theory to analyze Atwood's novels.As Atwood's novels are rich in contents,four dystopic novels are chosen to interpret the prototype,summarizes the prototype images,prototype characters and prototype motifs in the text,and explores the prototype art of Atwood's works.This paper initially defines Atwood's dystopic novels,and analyses studies on Atwood's works,as well as the feasibility and innovation of Atwood's novels in anti-utopia by using prototype criticism theory.The major part of this paper analyzes solutions put forward by Atwood for survive and spiritual predicament.This part beings with prototype motif as the key word,the author makes an analysis of Atwood's dystopian motif of imprisonment and escape,maternal love and growth,suffering and redemption,and discusses its profound meaning.Then the scapegoat prototype,Eve prototype and Hera prototype in female characters,Jesus prototype and Adam prototype in male characters are analyzed in detail,from which the pursuit of freedom and resistance to oppression of human beings living in such an extreme society are summarized.By using the prototype image,and through the flood image,magic color image,Garden of Eden image and garden image to analyses the views of totalitarianism and science and technology ethics in her dystopic novels.Finally,it summarizes the intrinsic value of archetypal art in Atwood's works,expresses the exploration of the relationship between the sexes,the reflection on the ecological environment and the reflection on social power.From the perspective of Myth-prototype criticism,Margaret Atwood's anti-utopian novels present a future society dominated by totalitarianism and,science and technology.The repeated emergence of a large number of prototypes in her novels sounds an alarm to people living in modern times.When the existence and spiritual crisis come together,Atwood provides an ideal for human beings to construct human happiness and value.
