Based on the self-efficacy theory,Wiener's attribution theory and the relevant literature of predecessors, this thesis investigates part of the students in Grade One of Fuzhou No.18 Senior High School by means of observation, interview and questionnaires. The purpose of this thesis is to study the differences in the sense of self-efficacy,self-attribution and listening achievement of high school students of different genders at the present stage. The findings are as follows: 1)In terms of listening ability, most of the students' listening performance is at a moderate or low level at this stage;there is no significant gender difference.2)In terms of listening self-efficacy,the average level is not high, but there are great differences in the level of individual self-efficacy.There is no significant gender difference in this aspect.Girls' performance is slightly better than boys in general.3)In the aspect of listening self-attribution,the attribution style of Senior One students in the process of learning English listening is relatively ideal at this stage, and the overall tendency is positive attribution. In addition, there are significant gender differences in students' attribution styles.Male students are more inclined to adopt negative attribution styles than female students, while female students tend more to adopt positive attribution styles than male students.4)Finally,there is no significant difference between male and female students in the correlation among listening achievement, listening self-efficacy and listening self-attribution,while the correlation of male students is slightly higher than female students. On this basis, this thesis puts forward some pedagogical inspirations, hoping to help teachers and students in English listening teaching and learning in the future. What is more, there are still some shortcomings in this thesis, such as insufficient sample representation and some problems in questionnaire design, which should be avoided and remedied in the future research.
