Investigation And Research On Public Square Dance In Shihezi City Of Xinjiang Province

Square dance is an important component of community culture.Participating in community square dance not just can get exercises,but also ease pressure,cultivate sentiment and rally people,which is conductive to improving humanistic accomplishments and promote national unity,thereby safeguarding social harmony and stability.Domestically,community culture booms and rises nationwide.In different regions,nations and characteristic cultures,the development of community culture presents differences.Thereof,community culture developed by Shihezi,Xinjiang,demonstrates distinctive features.Shihezi is the most typical representative of Xinjiang corps cultural characteristics.Since 1995,Shihezi was awarded with titles like "National Hygiene City","National Living Environment Award","National Harmonious Community Construction Demonstration City","the Most Influential City at Abroad",etc.A retrospect found Shihezi a wasteland.It was in 1956 that border-supporting youths came to Xinjiang to develop and construct Shihezi,finally creating it a green and civilized advanced city.At the same time,the group of people was also the major participators of Shihezi community culture.It was found in the process of investigating on senior community square dancers in Shihezi that they had the same voice: Shihezi was created by us,the corps members.Greenland,garden and square all are representatives of corps culture.As a member of Xinjiang Corps,they are born with love for Xinjiang culture and play a role of publicizing harmonious society through corps culture,thereby safeguarding social stability and national unity.This paper investigates and researches community square dance’s development in the unique area,Shihezi,through literature,data statistics,questionnaire and field trips,which is contributive to understanding this activity relationship that’s single but involves minorities’ participation in the vision of corps culture.The research is crucial to promote national unity and the society’s harmonious and stable development.The author,with the entry point of community square dancers,professors and organizers in the region,explains the functions of this culture so as to expand a new horizon of community square dance culture in Shihezi.At the same time,classification is made to the city’s community square dance culture in order to study this culture in a more all-round and systematic way.
