Junior high school students are in an important stage of second language mastery, and classroom teaching is the core way for them to acquire English competence. At the same time, classroom activities are also an important part of classroom teaching. Thus,it is of great significance to have effective oral English classroom activities which can meet the needs of students' interest, improve students' enthusiasm and cultivate students' English communicative competence for oral English learning.Based on the Input Hypothesis and Output Hypothesis, this study designs six closely related oral English classroom activities, and uses questionnaire survey and in-depth interview as research means to solve the three research questions. The three research questions are as follows:(1)How do junior high school students view oral English classroom activities?(2)Can junior high school students accept oral English classroom activities organized based on Input and Output Hypothesis?(3)Can oral English classroom activities meet the needs of students' interests, increase students' enthusiasm and cultivate students' communicative competence for oral English learning ?In this study, oral English classroom activities are organized by the researcher, and 109 students are randomly selected for two questionnaires who are from two natural classes of Grade Two in a middle school from Shenyang. At the same time,8 students of different genders and learning abilities are selected to conduct in-depth interviews twice according to pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire.The pre-questionnaire is to investigate junior high school students' views on oral English classroom activities. The post-questionnaire is to survey whether junior high school students can accept oral English classroom activities organized based on Input andOutput Hypothesis and whether oral English classroom activities can meet the needs of students' interests, increase students' enthusiasm and cultivate students' communicative competence for oral English learning.SPSS 16.0 is used to check reliability as well as validity statistics of questionnaires and analyze the results of collected valid questionnaires. The whole research process lasts for 17 weeks. The results show that students are more willing to accept the student-centered language input and output activities,in which teachers play the role of participants and supervisors. The oral English classroom activities in this study, such as movie imitation, retelling activities, interactive role play, group discussion, debate and simulation interview, can meet the needs of students' interests, increase students' enthusiasm and cultivate students' communicative competence for oral English learning. This study has a positive significance for the educators and learners of junior high schools to maximize the organization of classroom activities. However, there are some limitations in this study, such as audio recording for interviews which lacks the record of students' looks and behaviors, lack of vertical and horizontal sample comparison of different classes, and so on.In view of this, the researcher hopes that the follow-up study will fully consider the diversity and difference of the samples, and record the interviews by video recording to enhance the credibility of the study.
