As one of the four basic skills in English learning,reading plays an important role in English teaching.However,at present in China's senior middle schools,the teacher-oriented teaching method is still prevalent.Most in-class instructions are carried out without an emphasis on cultivating students' learner autonomous capacity and enabling them to master appropriate English reading strategies.Pedagogical reform and innovation is under way and textbooks for senior high schools have been updated,and therefore redesigning curricula must be put on the agenda.With the advent of corpus resources and the development of computer technology,the use of corpora in language teaching has become a trend that breathes new life into the traditional English teaching.This study attempts to explore the impact of corpus-based English reading teaching on English reading learning.There are following three research questions in this paper:1.What is the effect of corpus-based English reading teaching on senior high school students' English learner autonomous capacity?2.How does the corpus-based approach change senior high school students' way of reading?3.What is the influence of semi-authentic corpus training on senior high school students' English reading proficiency?This study was conducted in The High School Affiliated to Bohai University in Jinzhou,Liaoning province.The experiment lasted 16 weeks.There were 88 participants from two parallel classes of Grade Three in the project.Class One was as experimental class(EC)and class Two served as the control class(CC).Research instruments included questionnaires,tests,interviews,AntConc and SPSS software tools.Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were employed for analyzing empirical data.The results show that the corpus-based English reading teaching mode has encouraged the students in the EC to use reading strategies more frequently.In addition,students in the EC have improved their learner autonomous capacity and their reading proficiency has also increased to a certain extent.Finally,the author expounds the teaching enlightenment obtained from the study and puts forward some suggestions that may shed some light on the future research on English reading teaching in senior high school.
