Writing,as one of the four communicative skills,plays an important role in junior high school English teaching.And at the same time,writing is also a difficult task for many junior high school students.Although students have written a lot of compositions,their compositions are still unsatisfactory.According to previous studies,imitative writing has made great contributions to students' English writing.Imitative writing includes sentence imitation,paragraph imitation,and passage imitation.Similarly,from the perspective of memetics,memes are mainly spread by imitation.In addition,the memetics could provide a good theoretical framework for imitative writing.The thesis attempts to apply imitative writing based on memetics to English writing teaching in junior high school to answer the two questions:1.What are the effects on student's writing ability after the application of imitative writing based on memetics ?2.What are the changes of students' attitudes towards writing after the application of imitative writing based on memetics ?The study conducted an application experiment among 106 students in 2 classes of a junior high school in Shenyang.The two classes were named experimental class and control class respectively.Each class had 53 students.The experimental class(EC)was taught in the teaching method of imitative writing based on memetics,while the control class(CC)adopted traditional teaching method.The pre-test and post-test were designed to explore the effects on students' writing ability after the applicationof imitative writing based on memetics.Interviews and questionnaires were adopted to investigate the changes of students' attitudes towards writing after the application of imitative writing based on memetics.With the help of SPSS 26.0,it came to the conclusion that after the application of imitative writing based on memetics in EC,the writing ability of students improved.Besides,the attitudes of students to writing had changed.Thus,imitative writing based on memetics was beneficial and effective for English writing teaching in junior high school.
