A Study Of Jorge Luis Borges’ View On Author

Author is one of the basic elements of literary research.With the advent of the Linguistic Turn of the 20 th century,the capital "Author" has gradually been marginalized.Gone are the days of Author-centered,and the declaration of "The Death of Author" has taken its place.However,in concrete literary practice,theorists seem to fail.Instead of withdrawing from the stage of history,the crises about questions of author have intensified: literary criticism pursuit to create polysemous text,which has overly demonized the author’s image;literary theory has practiced "De-subjectivity" strictly,Creating a tit-for-tat situation between author and reader;in order to declare the death of author,the author’s creativity was stripped forcibly.In the development of modern literature,the importance of the reader is self-evident,but blindly rejecting the author will inevitably lead to the lack of literary territory.Regarding the problem of author,although Jorge Luis Borges,known as "writer of writers",did not form a systematic exposition,his many philosophical works provide new directions for thinking about this problem.Borges did not choose between the author and the reader,but based on his writing experience,unified the two with each other.He affirmed the author’s creativity,simultaneously encouraged the reader to be free of reading.Borges believes that as the source of literary works,the author’s creativity cannot be doubted.Modernliterary research should not abandon the author,let alone deny the author’s creativity.Nevertheless,Author-centered with authors as the sole criterion is not advisable.Expulsion of authors makes literature ineffective,blind worship of authors makes literature a dead end.According to Borges’ view of the author,to break the deadlock in the research of author ’s theoretical,we must first avoid the popular discourse of “author is dead” and re-examine the role of modern authors.Second,we must comprehensively consider the relationship between authors and readers,and avoid research of theory falling into the mire of authority.
