As the basic part in language learning,vocabulary plays a fundamental and critical role in English learning.Vocabulary knowledge includes two aspects: the breadth and the depth of vocabulary knowledge.So far,many scholars have focused on exploring the breadth of vocabulary knowledge.However,vocabulary learning not only focuses on the amounts of words,but also refers to a good command and understanding of the depth of vocabulary knowledge.Gradually,more and more scholars begin to study the depth of vocabulary knowledge with the development of in-depth learning theory.As it is known,learners' ability to learn vocabulary knowledge is related to their concepts,methods and strategies.Therefore,this study mainly explores the correlation between the depth of vocabulary knowledge and vocabulary learning strategies of senior high school students.In this study,the research questions are about the students' status quo of depth of vocabulary knowledge and the vocabulary learning strategies,as well as the correlation between them.This study takes 84 senior high school students in Grade two from Wenjiang High School as the research subjects,and uses the depth of vocabulary knowledge test and the vocabulary learning strategies questionnaire as the research instruments.The students' status quo of depth of vocabulary knowledge is tested by the depth of vocabulary knowledge test.Meanwhile,the students' application of vocabulary learning strategies is investigated by the vocabulary learning strategies questionnaire.Next,SPSS is adopted in this study to analyze the data and find out the relationship between the two items.By analyzing the data,this study finds out the students' status quo of the depth of vocabulary knowledge is relatively good.Moreover,the students use cognitive learning strategies more often than meta-cognitive strategies.And by analyzing the data,the results turn out that the application of vocabulary learning strategies can influence the learning of the depth of vocabulary knowledge,and there is a positive correlation between them.Therefore,the correlation between the depth of vocabulary knowledge and more various vocabulary learning strategies should be further explored in future research.By further studying the relationship between the two items,teachers can offer different vocabulary learning strategies to help the students learn more vocabulary knowledge.At the same time,students can use more vocabulary learning strategies to promote the vocabulary learning.
