Predicament,Control,Ideal:Critique Of Everyday Life In Bob Dylan's Poems

Bob Dylan(1941-)has been an influential music culture celebrity in the United States since the 1960 s.He is also an outstanding writer who won the 92 nd Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 2008 and the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature.As a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature,he has not received the same extensive attention from the academic circle as other award-winning writers,but has attracted many award-winning disputes.However,making a general survey of Dylan's poems,it can be found that people's everyday life and inner world run through poems.Everyday life is the soil for the initiation and growth of all kinds of social activities and social relations.The essence of society depends on the trivial things in people's everyday life.At present,as for the research situation concerned at home and abroad,on the one hand,most of the researchers stay on the discussion of poetic forms;on the other hand,some scholars analyze Dylan's poetry from the perspectives of philosophy,psychology,aesthetics,and modernism,etc.However,it has not been found that scholars have commented on the everyday life embodied in Dylan's poems.Therefore,by using Lefebvre's theory of critique of everyday life and combining with the author's historical background and life experience,this thesis takes everyday life as its starting point and focuses on people's trivial matters in daily life,social relations and activities.Through an in-depth analysis of the poems,it further explores the literary value and humanistic care in Bob Dylan's lyrics.This thesis consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,including the reason and the significance of the topic,the research situation at home and abroad,and the introduction of critical method.The second part analyzes people's living predicament,namely,people's self-alienation,alienation in interpersonal relationship,and alienation between man and society.The third part probes into the causes of the living dilemma and the four main power relations that control people's everyday life.The fourth part discusses the practical ways to return to normal life.The final part summarizes the main statement and the implications.This article draws the following conclusion.Dylan reproduces the life picture of Americans in the 1960 s and 1970 s with his poetic expression and great sense ofreality.The poet expresses his deep concern for American social reality and his ideal of returning to the true nature of life,namely,the care for the plight of people's lives,the resistance to all unjust political and cultural orders that oppress human nature,his yearning for equality,love,freedom and nature.He undertakes his historical mission as a writer in the social and historical process and shows strong humanistic care.His reflection on the social reality is worth studying.
