The documentary “Children's hope” recodes five left-behind children,showing their family and personality characteristics,and it is a true record of their living conditions and difficulties encountered.They are linked by the Caring for Left-behind Children's Service Association,and the documentary chronicles the association's uncles and aunts' efforts for the children,bringing them missing love and hope.This paper focuses on the narratology theory of this documentary.The first part discusses the narrative way of the documentary,analyzes its ideological theme in the realistic predicament and humanistic thinking of the left-behind children.The second part expounds the narrative idea of the documentary “Children's hope” in four respects of the construction of authenticity,the performance of story,the shaping of the typical characters and the plats structure.The third part summarizes the narrative image presentation of the documentary “Children's hope”,analyzes its visual language in the overall narrative realism and freehand,as well as its audio language in the documentary narrative and lyrical functions.
