With the deepening of exchanges between China and the western countries further increasing and the development of non-literary translation studies,a large number of foreign social literary works have been introduced through translation, which have a large translation market. Therefore, translation studies of social literary have also shown an increasing trend in recent years. In this context, this translation practice studies the last five chapters(15-19)of American history and Its geographic Conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the translation process of the original text while expressing the meaning of the original text faithfully and lucidly.American history and Its geographic Conditions is a great book in American geography field. The book tells the relationship between the development of the United States and its geographical environment, which enables readers to understand the development process of the United States from the perspective of geography,so as to popularize the understanding of geographical environment's influence on humanity and cultivate people's interest in learning and exploring geography. At the lexical level, this social literary contains a large number of professional terms because of its accurate wording and rigorous language. At the syntactic level, there are a large number of long and difficult sentences in the original text, which is one of the difficulties encountered by the translator in translation.Long sentences usually contain more and longer modifiers, parallel components and subordinate clauses. Thus, long sentences make more barriers in understanding and translation. From the perspective of the whole text, the author uses many parallel structure sentences to connect the text, which reflects the strong logic and coherence of social science texts. In order to accurately convey the source text information to the recipient of the target language, the translator chooses the three principles of Skopos theory as the theoretical guidance,so as to make the translation more accurate, smooth and easy for readers to accept.
