Film narratology is an important part of film theory.For a director.whether he has certain narrative skills as well as mature expression is one of the ways to judge director's creative ability.As one of the representative figures of "Independent Film Creation" in the United States,Wes Anderson has his own characteristics in film creation,especially in film narrative.Therefore,this research takes the nine existing films of Wes Anderson as the analysis text,and starts from three aspects: narrative theme,narrative language and narrative strategy,to explore the narrative characteristics of Wes Anderson's films.The first chapter analyzes the narrative theme of Wes Anderson's films.Wes Anderson focused on family and growth.Besides,he focused on the mental confusion,emotional state,and interpersonal relationships of each member in middle-class family,revealing the confusion of youth and the mourning of middle-aged people.As Wes Anderson's thoughts developing,he extended his concern for individual and families to human community.He attempted to use cameras to depict political parables under post-war global capitalist rule and reveal the specific political and historical environment on the state of human life.He conveyed his longing for the European civilization before the war.The second chapter analyzes the narrative language of Wes Anderson films.focusing on the uniqueness of Wes Anderson's film lens language,picture composition and color application.Through the analysis of three perspectives: motion shots,perfectly symmetrical composition methods and color expressions,the author examines the special narrative effect which was brought by specific narrative language.Besides,the author further analyzes the aesthetic style conveyed by the narrative language.The third chapter explores the narrative strategy of Wes Anderson's films,and examines its narrative perspective diachronically from Wes Anderson's overall creation.The author also depicts the narrative structure,closed narrative space and flexible narrative timeline in Wes Anderson's works and tries to grasp the consistency of its narrative strategy.Wes Anderson claimed that his films are "very personal" because he used a passionate and personal narrative to convey his understanding of family and society.Not only did he provide audiences with an audiovisual feast,but also he brought thinking about life and growth to the audience.
