| The thesis is presented in the form of report and mainly includes four chapters, introducing preparations made before translation, analysis and improvement during translation and conclusion after translation. The translation material is excerpted from a book called Geological Storage of CO2 in Deep Saline Formations, and the first chapter gives an overview of Carbon Capture and Storage and its important role in reducing CO2 emissions, and the second chapter discusses processes occurring during CO2 geological storage.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the translator overcame translation difficulties met in the translation process and presented translation strategies at lexical, syntactic and discourse level. At lexical level, abbreviations, technical terms and non-technical terms have been analyzed;at syntactic level, methods in translating passive voice and long and complex sentences have been introduced;and at discourse level, differences in cohesive devices between source text and translated text have been presented.Through the translation practice, the translator’s knowledge of Skopos theory has been strengthened, and her ability to analyze and overcome difficulties has been improved. All these lay a solid foundation for her future translation practice. |
