Rangzhi Wu is an outstanding calligrapher from the Qing dynasty who is exceptionally skilled at seal script and seal cutting.Under the influence and enlightenment of Shiru Deng,Rangzhi Wu derived stele theory from him to improve the creation of seal script.On this basis,he combines the aesthetic interest of calligraphy into the seal script,which results in that the seal script forms the artistic styles and features that differ from rounded,elegance,vivid and spirituality of Shiru Deng.Rangzhi Wu is an orchestrator of Deng style who connects the past and future development,subsequent seal calligrapher of Deng style such as Ruqian Zhao and Changshuo Wu are effect by him more or less.This paper mainly discusses the characteristics and reasons for the formation of Rangzhi Wu's script from three dimensions on multiple levels,which are the origins of Rangzhi Wu's seal script,derivation of Rangzhi Wu's seal script from the stele theory,derivation of Rangzhi Wu's seal script from calligraphy.
