As an important way for students to obtain text information,reading plays a vital role in English teaching.But for a long time,the junior middle school English reading class in my country has paid too much attention to the explanation and training of language knowledge,which has greatly reduced students' reading interest and motivation,and is not conducive to the cultivation and improvement of their reading ability.Under this background,the researchers tried to put forward situational teaching strategies in junior middle school English reading teaching.This article aims to test whether this new teaching method can enhance students' English reading motivation and improve students' English reading performance and reading comprehension ability by applying situational teaching strategies in reading classrooms.Therefore,this study mainly solves three research questions: 1.What effect does the situational teaching strategy have on the students' motivation to learn English? 2.How does situational teaching strategy affect students' English reading performance? 3.What effect does the situational teaching strategy have on students' English reading ability?In order to solve the problems raised in this experiment,the researchers conducted three months of experimental research.The research object of the experiment is two parallel classes in the second grade of a junior high school in Shihezi.Six classes are control classes and the fifth class is experimental class.Before the experiment,the two classes conducted pre-questionnaire and pre-test tests to ensure that the levels of the two classes were basically the same.The control class still uses conventional English reading teaching,and the experimental class adopts the situational teaching strategy for English reading teaching.After a semester,the two classes should conduct post-questionnaires and post-tests to compare whether there are significant differences.This research uses questionnaires and test research methods.SPSS software analyzes the obtained data.After a three-month experimental study,the study found that,first,the test comprehension scores of the experimental class were higher than the control class,indicating that the situational teaching strategy can improve the test comprehension scores of the test subjects.Second,the reading comprehension ability of the subjects in the experimental class is higher than that in the control class,indicating that situational teaching strategies can improve the reading comprehension ability of the subjects.Third,the reading motivation of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class,indicating that the situational teaching strategy played a positive role in the reading motivation of the subjects.This study has the following three teaching suggestions for the implementation of current situational teaching strategies in junior middle school English reading teaching.First,teachers should constantly improve their own teaching theory knowledge reserve and teaching practice level,starting from students' reading level and teaching practice,and strive to achieve the optimization of situational teaching strategies.Second,in English reading teaching,teachers should use a variety of situational teaching strategies in the teaching process.Teachers create a situation that is in line with actual life,so that students' various sensory and emotional experiences can be fully mobilized in the situation,so as to actively participate in classroomlearning.Teachers should set up reasonable situations as much as possible,and provide a variety of situational teaching strategies for students to participate in English reading classroom activities.This is one of the important ways to increase classroom vitality.Third,for students with different levels of reading comprehension,in situational teaching,teachers should not only actively guide all students,but also play a role in the development of individual students' reading ability,and promote students The reading ability has been developed accordingly.
