Belief And Customs Of Dazhong In Nanjing County

This paper mainly takes the folk belief of the Dazhong belief in Nanjing County as the research object,focusing on the case study of the Dazhong belief in the Shimen Temple.On the basis of the geographical environment,humanistic environment,historical evolution and folk custom characteristics of Nanjing,this paper makes a macro investigation on the Yin temple in 10 towns of Nanjing County.So as to analyze the formation characteristics,distribution status and belief of the Shimen Temple in Nanjing and highlight the unique religious function of the Dazhong belief in Shimen Temple.In addition,focusing on the interaction between the Shimen Temple and other temples.Sijia temples,Chuigong temple,Guanyu temple and Confucious temple form the temple cyberspace relations which take Shimen Temple as the core.As well as,Dazhong belief in Shimen Temple form a kind of dispersing type of pilgrimage with other temples outside the Wuzhai area.Folk-custom activity is the most direct external manifestation of folk belief and an important part of people's spiritual life.Its ritual forms reflect people's reverence for belief and their desire for life.This paper mainly explores the folk custom activities of the Shimen Temple,Ji tong ceremony and swabs.Then analyze the interaction between the Shimen Temple's Dazhong belief and local society as well as expounds the deep social significance behind.From the study of the academic,cultural and social significance of the Dazhong belief in the Shimen Temple,it is concluded that the unique belief in the Shimen Temple compere with other yin temples.the Shimen Temple is not only Yin temple.That is,it has already a higher clergy.The Dazhong belief in the Shimen Temple and local social interaction development is also a deified process.It is the innovation of this paper to explore the deified process of Yin temple in Minnan folk belief research.This paper selected the Shimen Temple as a representative case.
