Grammar teaching is not only an important part of English teaching, but also a key factor in improving the comprehensive ability of English learners. However, the current situation of English grammar teaching in high schools is not optimistic: firstly, the effectiveness of grammar teaching and learning is low,and students need to develop efficient learning strategies;secondly, students' grammatical competence is insufficient, although they can recite grammatical rules, they can not use it in communicative contexts. The English Curriculum Standard of General Senior High Scool(2017Edition)synthesizes the studies on English learning activities, which aims to solve the problems caused by the separation between learning and using and promote the efficiency in foreign language teaching. After the concept of English learning activities was proposed, the majority of researchers responded and practiced positively, and verified the positive influence on foreign language teaching. However,in the high school English grammar classroom, the application of English learning activities is still relatively low. Therefore,in order to further explore new methods of high school English grammar teaching and improve the quality of grammar teaching,we try to combine the English learning activities with the high school English grammar teaching, and a new grammar teaching model of "Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evaluations" based on the theory of English learning activities has been temporarily constructed. The basic construction principles of the model are based on context, focused on discourse, emotional motivation and activity-driven.Grammar teaching should focus on the five links of "leading-reading-understanding-practicing-using",base on the three stages of perception and comprehension, integration and internalization, communication and creation, and integrate process evaluation and final assessment.Next,we conducted an empirical study on the application effect of the "Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evaluations" grammar teaching model. There are two main research questions:(1)How does this model affect students' use of grammar learning strategies?(2)Can this model improve students' grammatical competence? This paper conducts an experimental study on two parallel classes of an ordinary high school in Jiangxi Province through questionnaires, grammar text, interviews as well as textual analysis of the writings: Questionnaires are mainly used to answer research question one,by comparing the questionnaire of the grammar learning strategies of the two classes before and after the experimental teaching, the impact of the "Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evalutions" grammar teaching model on the use of grammar learning strategies is analyzed;Grammar test and textual analysis of the writings are used to answer research question two,by comparing the grammar test scores of the two classes before and after the experimental teaching and the use of grammar in the composition, the impact of this model on students' ability to use grammar is analyzed;Interview as an auxiliary tool. After twelve weeks of grammar teaching, the results show that:(1)The English grammar teaching model of “ Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evaluations ” has a positive effect on improving students' use of grammatical learning strategies.Particularly,it has a positive impact on the use of emotional strategies, communicative strategies and cognitive strategies, but the effect on the use of meta-cognitive strategies is not yet apparent.(2)The "Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evaluations" model has a remarkable effect on improving students' grammatical competence, and the grammar scores of the experimental class have been significantly improved. In addition,in post-test writing, the attributive clauses and passive voices written by the students in the experimental class were increased compared with the control class, also the error rate was lower than the control class. The grammar teaching model of "Five Links,Three Stages and Two Evaluations" has important implications for grammar teaching in high schools:(1)Teachers should pay attention to the design and implement of teaching activities, emphasizing the practicality, communicative nature and level of teaching activities;(2)Teachers should strengthen the training of learning strategies and internalize the students use of learning strategies into classroomteaching practice;(3)Teachers should pay attention to the non-linguistic factors of students' grammar learning, such as psychological processes.
