Philosophy of religion is an important part of Hume's philosophy.Hume has made a lot of discussions on the origin, development, influence and construction of religion, and his study of philosophy of religion has an important position and significance in the history of philosophy of religion, and has some enlightenment on the development and management of contemporary religion. The purpose of this paper is to explain the historical background of Hume's philosophy of religion in detail, systematically reconstruct Hume's philosophy of religion theory, and attempt to construct the connection between Hume's philosophy of religion and his other thoughts.First of all, this paper will sort out the historical context and theological context of Hume's philosophy of religion.Starting with a study of the troubled union between England and Scotland in the 17 th and 18 th centuries,I will show the close relationship between politics, economy, science and religion in Hume's time. Then,I try to show the positions of various sides of the theological debate through the contradictory religious atmosphere and the heated theological debate centered on deism. This constitutes the historical background of Hume's religious concern.Next, this paper will explore the conception and writing of Hume's philosophy of religions? texts.Hume's anti-religious thought has began to take shape in his A Treatise of Human Nature. His other religious philosophical texts are further explanations of this.Under the guidance of his unique stylistic view,he used a variety of expression techniques, balanced between prudent ways and bold thoughts, and aroused readers' deep thinking on religion.Second, this paper focuses on Hume's research on the origin and evolution of religion.Hume believes that religion is divided into two forms of worship: polytheism and theism. The former is the original religion of mankind. Both of these beliefs stem from the eternal hopes and fears associated with human concern for the common life, which flux and reflux alternately in human society. In general, theism has more negative effects than polytheism.Third, this paper explores Hume's criticism of the proof of god's existence and god's moral attribute in detail. In addition, this paper explores Hume's attitude towards God.Hume criticized the design proof, the cosmology proof, the ontology proof and the proof of miracles with the empirical epistemology,he shows that the existence of god cannot be proved. He negated the moral attribute of god by criticizing theodicy.Taking suicide as an example,he criticized the theological moral taboo and pointed out that people have no moral obligation to god.By this,he unbound the relationship among god, morality and Human.Hume believed that god could only appear as the emotional sustenance of human beings, and could not have excessive power.Man's religious belief in god is an imaginary belief. Finally, this paper analyzes the concept of Hume's true and false religion, and through sorting out the related texts of Hume's false religion, explains the cause and influence of false religion.Furthermore, through the comparison with the false religion,I analysize the characteristics, basis and influence of the true religion, the relationship between Hume's philosophy of religion and Hume's other thoughts.Hume's true religion was established under the theoretical guidance of Hume's political philosophy, ethics, and epistemology, which put an end to his "human science".
