| Data has exponentially increased in the information age.Internet language data is enormous, rich in forms, and convenient to obtain, which has unique advantages for assisting translators in translation. However, the amount of data on the Internet is large and complex. What criteria should translators use to screen these resources for effective translation? This thesis is based on an empirical study of a Chinese-English translation task from Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum. It discusses how to utilize translator’s digital literacy by using search engines or language resources obtained through the Internet to assist translation and improve the quality of translation in the process of historical texts translation. This thesis first introduces the text characteristics of the source text.It has a large amount of historical background knowledge,a high level of internationalization, and a lot of references.Aiming at these characteristics, the applicability analysis of Internet-aided translation is carried out. Then, through cases analysis, this thesis proposes that translator should attach great importance to context, including language in context and time context.Besides, learning to use highly relevant parallel texts is also very important, either directly using or learning expression from related parallel texts. And critical thinking can be used in both understanding the source text and using Internet resources. It is hoped that this study will help increase the sensitivity of translators in developing digital literacy, thereby improving the quality of translation. |
