| Singapore ethnic Chinese accounts for 74%,More and more people use English as their family language.Family is the best place to learn mandarin.It is bad for inheritance and maintenance of Mandarin.This paper focuses on the family language policy and identity recognition of Singaporean Chinese.This paper applies qualitative research as the main method,which is supplemented by quantitative research.This paper uses participatory observation,case interview and questionnaire survey for triangle verification.The research objects are three types of families: the new immigrant Chinese family,the native Chinese family,the transnational family mixed by new immigrants and the native Chinese.This paper studies these issues : Family language practice,Singaporean Chinese family language use and division of different occasions,;Family language management model,top-down and equal interaction;Family language ideology and identity interaction.The research result shows that Mandarin is still the main language of Chinese families,and English is likely to replace mandarin in the future.There are various forms of family language management.Family language ideology and identity recognition affect each other.Native Chinese recognize their identity as "Singaporean",and the new immigrants hold the dual identity of nationality and race.The new generation is judged by their place of birth.Identity construction affects language identity;therefore,it is a common thought that Chinese must master mandarin.Finally,this paper summarizes the language policy and identification of Chinese families in Singapore and puts forward some suggestions for the existing problems. |
