The grim social situation provides the soil for the creation of realistic movies and there is no shortage of elderly images in these realistic movies. We always want to understand the meaning of old people's lives and to explore a variety of old-age images, but in film creation,we always use thin stereotypes to define the meaning of old-age images. In fact, this behavior has greatly distorted the natural state and realistic dilemma of the elderly. This article attempts to make a comprehensive analysis of the image of the elderly in realistic movies from a spatial perspective. From the macro film narrative space to the body space of the elderly image to the invisible spiritual space, the connotation of the image of the elderly in the Chinese realistic film since 2000 has been explored from three angles. In the foreword, the meaning of the research in this paper is clarified, the research object and scope are determined, the research status is analyzed, and the research innovation points are proposed. The first chapter is to sort out the changes in the image of the elderly in the realistic movies since the new century, and to interpret the connotation of different images of the elderly. The second chapter takes Lefebvre's "space theory" as the starting point, analyzes the narrative space that is closely related to the image of the elderly in realistic movies, and analyzes the connotation and shaping of the image of the elderly in different narrative spaces. The third chapter studies the body of the elderly image as a space. The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the two forms of spiritual space appearing in the image of the elderly.
