As a core element of Hani culture, the terrace agriculture is of high significance. And the ridges of terraces foster water resources. However, burrowing crayfish can bring about ridge collapse, thus causing water loss in terraces. The Hani terraces, whether serve as production function or as cultural symbols, have been suffering from issues caused by invasive species.Currently, when coping with crayfish, people in Qingkou Village,Yuanyang County,Honghe Prefecture principally count on the pesticide dispensed by local government.Attempts that taking crayfish as food, fertilizers,or commodities inspired by traditional local knowledge haven't succeeded. In the era of globalization, issues like the absence of ecological risk consciousness and the potential technic risk may affect Hani terrace ecological system. What can be learned from the crayfish in Hani terraces is that in the risk society, ecological systems are facing various modern risks at any moment.Certain kind of knowledge that is beneficial should be brought in,making local knowledge liberate its creative potential by finding the correct equilibrium between isolation and contact with others,as well as motivate its people, thus contributing to ecological conservation.
