South Korea's Balance Diplomacy Between China And The United States

This thesis focuses on the study of Korea in North-East Asia,the background of balancing diplomacy between China and the United States,and how the successive governments of South Korea are discussing how to balance diplomacy between China and the United States to maximize their own interests,and how to carry out balanced diplomacy and future trend between China and the United States under the new situation of' easing the situation in the Korean Peninsula.South Korea.has very important geopolitical strategic value in Northeast Asia,and its foreign policy is also the focus of Asia-Pacific political-military research.Since the founding of the Republic of Korea,the United States has been playing the role of close ally of South Korea,and the United States has always been inseparable from the participation of the United States in the process of formulating diplomatic stratcgy.The United States is an important consideration factor in the formulation of South Koreaundefineds foreign policy.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea in 1992,with the rapid development of Chinaundefineds economy and the rapid development of its comprehensive national strength,the two countries have made leaps and bounds in political,economic,military,cultural and other fields.More attention has been paid to the right to speak on regional and international platforms,which makes South Korea realize the importance of developing friendly strategic and cooperative partnership with China.As the US strategic center moved eastward,it gradually regarded China as a threat to destabilize hegemony,thus trying to demonstrate its strong power in Asia under the banner of "strategic rebalancing".As the world moves towards multipolarization and relations between China,the United States and Japan improve,South Korea has begun to shi f't to a balance between North-South relations and foreign policy.South Koreaundefineds balanced foreign policy is mainly as follows:first,it adheres to the Korea-US alliance and develops relations with Japan,but refuses to extend i t to the Korea-U.S.-Japan alliance;secondly,with Chinaundef ineds reform and opening up and the rising international status,it attaches importance to the development of China-ROK relations.Efforts should be made to improve relations between the ROK and Russia,and to advocate improving North-South relations and peaceful reunification of the peninsula.It.is necessary for South Korea to be aware of its position and advantage in Northeast Asia and make great efforts,to.balance the major powers.At the same time,we should also actively promote independent diplomacy to enhance the status and influence on the international stage.But under the new situation,the balance diplomacy of South Korea faces many challenges,and South Korea should also insist on the balanced diplomacy.
