John Locke's theory of freedom of political philosophy has its own theoretical origin and social background. From the theoretical origin,he was influenced by Aristotle and Cicero.John Locke's thought was influenced by the tradition of rule of law and the thought of natural law. From the historical background, the "Glorious Revolution" shows the end of the feudal society and the germination of capitalism. The basis of John Locke's theory of political freedom is freedom in the state of nature.John Locke believes that people in the state of nature follow the natural law of reason and everyone has the inalienable right of freedom. The core of John Locke's theory of political freedom is the study of the relationship between government and freedom. From the state of nature into the modern political society, the transfer of people's rights is the source of the government. The original purpose of the establishment of the government is to guarantee the free rights of the people. Therefore, all functions of the government serve this purpose. In order to serve the people better,John Locke advocated the realization of the separation of the three powers to prevent the corruption of the government.Locke emphasized the supremacy of the legislative power, because the legislative power is the representative of the public opinion. When the government has become corrupt, the people have the right to dissolve the government.John Locke's theory of political freedom has a great influence on the western democratic system.Until now,Locke's theory of political freedom still has an important reference value for the construction of our society.
