Canada has a long history of immigration and is known as the "Mosaic Country".Chinese immigrants embarked on this distant land because of the discovery of gold and the construction of the railway. They were as-ked to realize the transportation dreams of Canadian politicians, but with the arrival of more Chinese than required workers,Politicians felt it necess-ary to impose restrictions that would keep the non-assimilating portion of the population within a reasonable range.By the beginning of the 20th century,Canada began to control the flow of immigration and adopted a policy of excluding applicants whose ethnic origin was not in Europe. The government selects and excludes immigrants through stricter immigr ation legislation.Through research,we found that the period of opening and restricting immigration in Canada is roughly in line with the shift in immigration policy towards China. In Canada,a country composed of many immigrants, only Chinese are subject to special immigration regulat-ions promulgated by the government. It's particularity.Due to the majori-ty of Chinese in British Columbia,The province's various measures against Chinese immigrants have had a major impact on the living conditions of Canadians, changes in the federal government's policy towards Chinese, and changes in the attitude of the public toward the Chinese,It is the vane of the government, the public to the Chinese immigrants to welcome or reject. When Chinese gradually exceeded the expected range and threatened the identity of white people in the region, namely the identity of the Anglo-Saxon mentioned by Charles Wolcott Brooks,British Columbians sought legislation to define their identity by strictly supervising the existence of Chinese. This process began at the city, state and provincial levels and eventually developed to have an impact on federal policies. This article explores the origin?history?and eventual impact of this process, and examines the Chinese immigrants in British Columbia between 1858 and 1923.
