Nation identity is recognized by the entire nation for certain characteristics that are represented by the political community of the country.Through the internalization of these characteristics, the nation determines its own identity and its own coordinates in the social space to answer the question "Who Am I?"and connect these countries with these characteristics to link the country with its own destiny.National identity is constructive, and the key to constructing national identity lies in two aspects. One is determine the basic characteristics of national identity, and the other is how to make people identity with these characteristics. As an embodiment of the country's will, policy is an important means of constructing national identity. On the one hand, the policy embodies the country's choice of the basic characteristics of the national identity. On the other hand, the policy connects the national will with the nationals and promotes the national identity of the nation.Multi-ethnic countries tend to choose a "shortcut" to construct the national identity with the national identity of the main nation when they build the country. The advantage of this approach is that the identity of the main people in the historical development process has been formed and no longer needs to be established. To strengthen the recognition through excessive national power. However, the "shortcut"will also bring drawbacks:The national identity of national minorities may be weakened as a result.Turkey is a typical example of the "shortcut".In the process of constructing national identity in the early years after the founding of the Republic of Turkey.Turkey used the ethnic identity of the main ethnic Turk as the basis to implement the Kemalism assimilation policy, denied the Kurdish national status, and deprived the Kurdish people of their cultural rights. At the same time, due to the lack of political participation and economic status inequality, the Kurdish national identity has not been effectively constructed, but has promoted the development of Kurdish nationalism. With the passage of time, successive Turkish governments have different emphasis on Kurdish cultural rights, policy participation, and economic status, but they have generally continued the path of Kemalism assimilation policies.Until the 1990s,the Kurdish national status began to be recognized, the cultural rights gradually recovered, and some large-scale economic policies for the Kurdish region began to be promulgated and implemented. However, the Kurdish issue in Turkey has not been completely solved so far because of the ethnic contradictions caused by the problems left over from history, the development of Kurdish nationalism, and the continuous conflict between the Kurdistan Workers' Party and the Turkish government. The Turkish national identity construction is still far from Reach the end.
