Despite the rapid advancement of urbanization and rapid economic and social development in our country, and the increasing participation of communities, residents’ participation in community governance has not achieved the desired results and still faces many difficulties. In the practice of real community governance, each resident who is a rational person decides whether or not to participate in community governance after weighing many parties. However, scholars at home and abroad mostly use the residents as the research object for residents’ participation in related research. They conduct qualitative research on the issue of community participation in community governance from the perspective of macro and meso, and focus on certain aspects of research. The literature is relatively few,and there is less research on the integration of existing problems. At the same time,as a mature individual behavior research theory, the theory of planned behavior has achieved fruitful research results in many fields at home and abroad. This study starts from the perspective of residents and uses the extended theory of planned behavior to select six variables: “participation cognition”,“participation attitude”,“subjective norm”,“perceived behavioral control”,“social capital” and “community identity”.A theoretical model for the participation of urban residents in community governance was proposed.A questionnaire was designed for these six variables, and a small sample forecast was conducted. After ensuring the validity of the questionnaire,an official questionnaire survey was conducted on urban residents in China, and the questionnaire data was collected using SPSS23.0 software.Descript ive analysis, correlation analysis, linear regression analysis, and difference analysis are validated through hypotheses of theoretical models, demonstrating that it is feasible to use the extended program behavior theory to explain the motivational mechanism of individual residents’ participation in community governance. The results show that among the above six variables,“subjective norm” has the strongest explanatory power and relatively weakest explanatory power of “community identity”,but all show a significant positive impact on the individual’s participation in community governance intentions; The relationship between social capital and social identity and several other variables are also found;in addition to gender, demographic variables such as a ge and income have different effects on residents’ participation in community governance. Finally, according to the research conclusions, four measures, namely cracking participation in cognitive dilemmas, increasing community social capital stocks, reshaping residents’ community identity, and focusing on enhancing residents’ self-awareness,are proposed to stimulate the willingness of urban residents to participate in community governance, with a view to solving residents’ participation. The practical difficulties of community governance provide some ideas. |
