The disintegration of the Soviet Union marked the end of the two polar structure and left many unresolved territorial disputes due to the vacuum of power.These disputes are mainly reflected in the complex national problems in the Soviet Union.The Nagorno Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia broke out in 1988 and is the most typical example of ethnic issues in the southern Caucasus region.it not only reflects the long history of the Caucasus and perplexing religious relations,but also reflects the national deep reasons lead to the disintegration of the Soviet Union.The political status and ascription of the Nagorno Karabakh region still in suspense,the research on the problem in academic circles has never been interrupted.It's causes can be analyse from three aspects—national memory,the policy of the Russia Tsarist and attitude of Soviet Union on this issue.The development of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is mainly based on several key processes in 1988-1994.In addition,there are several extension issues——First,the "memory conflict" between the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples,the attitude of distrust between thetwo peoples,and the political and economic game between the United States and Russia have caused the conflict to be resolved so far;Second,the Armenian diaspora is a minor part of the conflict.They have played an important role in supporting Armenia in the development of the conflict.Third,the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has had a profound impact on both Azerbaijan and Armenia.The final settlement requires the two countries and each mediators work together.Independent study of this issue,can better and clearer understand the historical changes of the Nagorno Karabakh region and the profound influence of Nagorno Karabakh conflict on the situation in the region.
