The Impact Of Anti-corruption On Urban Total Factor Productivity

From the perspective of the city,it is of great practical significance to explore whether the anti-corruption is a factor that promotes the improvement of total factor productivity.It is of great significance to promote the transformation of China's economic model and the transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China".This paper uses the panel data of Chinese city level to explore the impact of anti-corruption on urban total factor productivity and its mechanism.After using the patrol group inspection as a tool variable of anti-corruption strength and effectively controlling the estimation bias caused by endogenous,this paper has the following main conclusions:First,increase the local anti-corruption intensity to the local total factor Productivity does have a significant boost,and in those areas where economic levels are more developed,this promotion is more pronounced;and the effects of cities in different geographical locations are significantly heterogeneous.Second,anti-corruption will have an impact on per capita fiscal expenditure,which in turn will affect the city's total factor productivity.With the increase in regional anti-corruption efforts,the local public officials will be more powerful,and the government's public officials' powers such as rent-seeking and abuse of public resources will be greatly reduced,and the government's direction and quantity of fiscal expenditure will be more stringent.To control,the most direct result is the decline in per capita fiscal expenditure.Due to the reduction of the extrusion effect,the amount of private capital with market attributes rises in the whole society,so it will invest in the industry with the highest rate of return,that is,the most technically efficient,and then two phenomena.First,in order to improve their own Industry competitiveness and focus on its own technological progress.Second,in the past,those inefficient enterprises that rely on "kickback" to obtain government capital are gradually eliminated,and the technological progress rate of all industries is increased,so the total factor productivity of the entire city will rise..Different from the previous literatures that mainly study the measurement,decomposition,spatial difference and enterprise heterogeneity of total factor productivity,this paper verifies the existence of the direct effect of increasing anti-corruption and promoting urban total factor productivity from the perspective of the city.In the country's national conditions,anti-corruption has increased ? the per capita fiscal expenditure has decreased ? the impact of urban total factor productivity has increased,which has enriched the research content in this field;combined with the actual situation in China,it has proposed to promote urban technological progress from the perspective of anti-corruption.The effective policy recommendations have important practical significance for further standardizing local government behavior,improving the market economic system,and building an innovative country.
