During the Han Dynasty, the development of Bashu Gentry reached its climax in the late Eastern Han Dynasty after the initial formation of the early Western Han Dynasty and the steady development from the late Western Han Dynasty to the early and middle Eastern Han Dynasty. The Shu-han regime always took the orthodoxy of the Han Dynasty as its own,and the various social systems basically belonged to the continuation of the late Eastern Han Dynasty. However,Liu Bei and his successors generally held the attitude of respecting and suppressing the Bashu Gentry people.Compared with the Guandong Gentry ethnic group under Cao Wei and the Jianghuai Gentry ethnic group under Dongwu Dynasty, the development of Bashu Gentry ethnic group showed a declining trend from the end of Eastern Han Dynasty to the regime of Shuhan Dynasty.Generally speaking, from the end of Qin Dynasty to the beginning of Han Dynasty to the beginning of Emperor Yuan of Han Dynasty, the Ba-Shu Gentry ethnic group was still in its initial stage of formation, and its identity characteristics were relatively single. There was no typical Gentry ethnic group form in the later stage, which integrates bureaucratic, scholar, landlord, industrial and commercial rich, etc.but there was a trend towards this form. Before the Emperor Yuan to the Emperor An of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the number of Gentry people increased, the speed increased and the distribution of Gentry people in time was more uniform. In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, the number of Gentry people in this period was 1.5 times of that in the previous period, and their official status was much higher than that in the previous period. It was not uncommon for them to be high officials. The Gentry people in Bashu Dynasty began to participate actively in the central affairs consciously and actively in accordance with their political propositions, and played an important role.Shuhan Dynasty period is the continuation and turning point of the development of Ba-shu Gentry. On the one hand, the rulers of the Shuhan regime actively drew up and absorbed the Ba-Shu Gentry scholars and allowed them to participate in the regime management, which greatly promoted the development of the Ba-Shu Gentry people. On the other hand, they strictly controlled the Ba-Shu Gentry people by strict law, which was particularly evident in the period of Liu Bei.More than this, the rulers of Shuhan did not allow the Ba-Shu Gentry people to infiltrate into the power core and forbid them to participate in the central decision Its repressive and preventive mentality has also made the Bashu Gentry people in a lower position in politics, unable to develop to a higher social stratum, not to mention the gradual evolution towards the direction of scholarly clan like the Central Plains Gentry people. Thus completely losing the capital to compete with the Central Plains Gentry people. The development of Gentry in three aspects of bureaucracy,Confucianism and scholarliness is mutually reinforcing and integrated. The Confucianism of Bashu Gentry shows different characteristics in three different periods of the development of Gentry.During the initial formation period, the Confucianism of the Bashu Gentry nationality was mainly led by the official education and a certain scale of private education, and the development of Confucianism was driven by bureaucrats.During this period, the integration and collision of ancient Bashu culture and Jingchu culture with Central Plains culture gave birth to a group of literary scholars, such as Sima Xiangru,Wang Bao and Yang Xiong, who were good at literature. In the stable development stage after the Yuan Emperor, the mutual promotion and integration between bureaucratization and Confucianism of the Bashu Gentry nationality became more obvious. With the gradual increase of contacts with the Gentry people in Central Plains, the development of Confucianism has also matured. Some scholars who are proficient in Confucianism have emerged.Private and family studies have developed to a certain extent. However, most of them are not too enthusiastic about official life, and are not satisfied with it.They are fascinated with learning or teaching, which is the obvious feature of the Confucianism of the Gentry people in Bashu during this period. After the mid-Eastern Han Dynasty,in this stage of Confucianism of the Bashu Gentry ethnic group, the inheritance of family learning is more prominent, and some Gentry ethnic groups present the characteristics of successive generations of inheritance of classics. Most of the Gentry scholars changed their high-minded mentality in the previous stage and were more keen to put their understanding of the Confucian concept of governing the country into practice. Therefore, most of the Confucian scholars in this period had prominent official positions and high political status, presenting the distinct characteristics of bureaucratization,Confucianism and scholarly integration. The Confucianism of the Bashu Gentry people in different periods shows different characteristics, which is the process of the integration of Cuban Shu culture and Central Plains Confucian culture from the initial friction and collision to the exchange and integration.
