A Study Of Democratic Thought Of "Father Of Thai Democracy"-Pridi Banomyong

Democratic thought is an important ideological foundation of a country,s democratic development.At the beginning of democracy and the degree of its follow-up development,a country cannot do without the guidance of democratic thought.Pridi Banomyong,who is recognized as the father of democracy in Thailand,has absorbed the content of Western democratic thought as well as Marxist and Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary theory.Pridi's democratic thought played a very important guiding role in the process of political democratization in Thailand.His rich content of democratic thought and practice in Thailand may provide some theoretical references for some countries and regions'democratic ideological construction.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the democratic thought of Pridi Banomyong.At the beginning of the twentieth century,except for Siam Kingdom,the rest of Southeast Asia was basically colonized.The colonial rule of the Western powers brought disaster to the local area,but also brought new things.Ideologically,the ideas of democracy,freedom and equality in the West spread rapidly in the region during this period,which contributed to the ideological emancipation of colonial people in Southeast Asia.In order to safeguard sovereignty,the Siam Royal Family began top-down reforms,and the anti-feudal elites of the lower classes of Thai society also tried to establish a new regime.Pridi's democratic consciousness is gradually emerging in such an era background.By the end of the 1920s and the beginning of the 1930s,Pridi's democratic thought had basically come into being,mainly concerning freedom,equality and democratic politics.While the world economic crisis has brought great impact to Thailand,Pridi's democratic thought has the opportunity to practice.Through continuous practice in social politics,economy and culture,Pridi's democratic thought has promoted the process of democratization in Thailand and embodied its positive content.When analyzing the formation,practice and content of Pridi's democratic thought,it is not difficult to find that its positive influence.However,when combining the specific facts of Thailand,Pridi's democratic thought also reflects some shortcomings,such as unrealistic,advanced and so on.By studying Pridi's democratic thought,we can find that it also plays a residual heat in the development of contemporary Thailand.Pridi himself and his democratic thought have been recognized and commemorated by Thai people,and Pridi deserves to be the father of Thai democracy.
