As one of the representative schools of Western Marxism,Frankfurt School,its theorists sharply criticized the commercialization and secularization of the late capitalist cultural development in Western society.The critical theory of cultural industry profoundly revealed the characteristics of standardization,commercialization and falsification of cultural industry,and criticized the cultural industry's manipulation of people's ideology.People in confusion see clearly the social ills of capitalism and have the spirit of rebellion.Combining the critical theory of cultural industry with the development of contemporary popular culture in China is the focus and difficulty of this paper.China is a socialist country,different from the western capitalist social system,and the emergence of cultural industry in a special historical period.Whether the critical theory under different institutional backgrounds is applicable to China's reality is a question worth pondering and must be analyzed and solved.But it does not mean that the critical theory of cultural industry has no applicability to the development of mass culture in China.On the contrary,in the era of economic globalization,the dissemination of culture and ideology is more convenient and rapid.Therefore,we need to correctly grasp the direction of cultural development and adhere to the fundamental interests of the people and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as the starting point and foothold.Point.In the first chapter of this paper,the introduction discusses the basis and significance of the research,the status quo of domestic and foreign research,research ideas and methods,innovations and shortcomings.In the second chapter,the main content of the thesis elaborates the historical background and theoretical sources of the critical theory of cultural industry.The main historical background includes the cultural totalitarianism of fascism and the mass culture of American monopoly in the process of the development of capitalist society.The theoretical sources include Marx's alienation theory and Lukacs' materialization theory.Chapter three discusses the development and main contents of Frankfurt School's critical theory of cultural industry from both horizontal and vertical perspectives.Longitudinal research firstly discusses the concept of cultural industry.Horizontal research is aimed at the main content of critical theory of cultural industry.It discusses the characteristics of commercialization,standardization and manipulation of mass ideology of cultural industry.Chapter IV first affirms the positive significance of the critical theory of cultural industry,such as pioneering cultural criticism and embodying the characteristics of humanistic care.Then it criticizes the limitations of the critical theory of cultural industry,including elitism standpoint and pessimistic attitude towards technology.The fifth chapter is based on the theory discussed above,focusing on the analysis of the current development situation of Chinese contemporary popular culture,examining whether the cultural industry has an impact on Chinese popular culture,andfully drawing on the relevant arguments of the critical theory of cultural industry,in line with the principle of starting from reality,focusing on the unity of theory and practice,striving to bring forward the future development of Chinese popular culture.For reference and suggestions.Chapter 6 is based on the principle of summary and prospect,and makes a concise and concise exposition.
