The aim of this thesis is to investigate and analyze U.S.-Russian and Sino-Russian relations.specifically in the third term of the Putin presidency(2012-2018).The project analyzed the functioning of different mechanisms within the relations, and how they are situated within the broader context of international relations.By conducting a comparative analysis,I was able to investigate and analyze the key differences existing within the US-Russian and Sino-Russian relations. The analysis conducted with respect to the countries’ behavior toward each other was viewed through the critical lens of two different IR paradigms:Realism and Liberalism. The analysis discovers that four key features are most decisive in constructing the differences between US-Russian and Sino-Russian relations. These are the Russian foreign policy direction.the countries’ political approach toward each other, the sphere of mutual interests, and relations between the state leaders. In addition, the Ukrainian crisis serves a particular role in the logic of this paper. This part is aimed to determine the impact of this event on the relations among the given countries. The Ukrainian crisis has had profound impacts on US-Russian relations.Conversely, the importance of the mutual efforts in order to resolve this conflict opens up opportunities for Washington and Moscow to gradually improve their bilateral relations. At simultaneously, the crisis gives a strong impetus to Sino-Russian cooperation. However,as the analysis shows, the Ukrainian crisis imposed some challenges with respect to relations between Beijing and Moscow. In sum,the studied period of time may be of interest to students studying IR,since it illustrates significant shifts in relations among the three main great powers.Such changes indicate that the creation of a new type of relations among state actors is inevitable. Thus, the interactions among Russia,China and the United States remain an important issue and deserve further study. |
