A Study On The Sustainable Livelihood Of Landless Farmers In Inner Mongolia Agricultural Region

With the prospering urbanization in China,various factors account for the increasing expropriation of rural land,and hence there are more and more farmers willing or unwilling to lose their land.Yet because of obscure land property right,insufficient land expropriation system and others,the farmers who lose their land are reduced to “farming without the land security and living without the subsistence share”.Hence farmers struggle to make a living but only to be trapped in the plight.That being said,we are facing problems like how to ensure farmers losing the land to have the living subsistence with lower unemployment rate,protect their legitimate right and interest,guide them to formulate sustainable living plan and help them gradually adapt themselves to the urbanization.These are all significant problems to be solved in the national economic progress.Otherwise they will interrupt the tempo of urbanization in China and generate negative implications for the social peace and stability.The text takes as an research object the land-losing farmers in Daxinying Village in Qiaoershiying Town and uses as the foundation the sociological theories.Clinging to the sustainable living plan framework,the text is also based on the current living conditions of these farmers to compare and analyze the economic changes of families before and after the land-losing.What are the actual causes of the changes and which are caused by policy or by family? These questions are kept as important points for analysis.Literature review,questionnaire survey and in-depth interview are research methods to dive into the problems of sustainable livelihood of land-losing farmers.Meanwhile,comprehensive demonstration falls into place for various factors of the sustainable livelihood.Different sustainable plans for farmer livelihoods are suggested to take care of land-losing farmer's well being as much as possible,which in turn ensures the sound development of livelihood in the long run.In this paper,the five parts listed below are used to explain the related viewpoints.The first part involves the introduction.It expounds the research purpose,significance and methods,and points out the research basis and major innovations.It also summarizes relevant Chinese and Western literature.In addition,based on theories of sustainable livelihoods of land-losing farmers,the first part explains content of landlosing farmers,concepts of urbanization and further information of sustainable livelihood.The second part illustrates survey data,comprehensively introduces the current livelihood of the landless farmers in Daxinying Village of Qiaoershiying Town,and studies problems that the farmers face.The third part mainly analyzes the factors of the sustainable livelihood of land-losing farmers from different perspectives such as compensation system of land acquisition,social security system,land-losing farmers themselves and employment.The fourth part,founded on the situation of land-losing farmers' livelihoods,deepens into what underlies problems.It also uses survey data analysis,and puts forward targeting solutions from perspectives of improved social security system,enhanced compensation system of land acquisition,optimized social adaptability of land-losing farmers and better employment.The last part is about the elaboration on the conclusion.
