The history of communication between China and Japan has been through ups and downs in the past centuries. The two countries used to be close as friends and also used to regard each other as enemy. In recent years, with the popularization of the Internet and smart phone, the way of Japan-related information dissemination has also changed a lot.Chinese people can know more about Japan online.Meanwhile, they also have more opportunities to go to Japan and to get along with Japanese people. This thesis aims to figure out if there is an impact on stereotype of Japan by these two ways that Chinese Internet users take to acquire Japan-related information. And whether the stereotyped impression will lead to a behavioral intentions is also an issue.Based on the SCM(stereotype content model)?BIAS map and a‘4D Model'of the country image, the current thesis conducts an empirical study via quantitative method. The results are as follows:1)Stereotypes of Japan can be divided into three dimensions:functional dimension, normative dimension and aesthetic dimension.Stereotypes of Japan among Chinese Internet users tend to be positive.2)Both ways Chinese Internet users take to acquire Japan-related information significantly influence stereotypes of Japan among them.3)The behavioral component can be divided into two dimensions:facilitation and harm. The stereotypes lead to a positive facilitation instead of harm, which means Chinese Internet users have a positive willingness to help Japan and its people.
