After world war II,the United States affirmative action(also known as the civil rights movement)rise and has produced profound influence in American society, and the feminist movement,as a branch of affirmative action, but there was no end by the end of the black civil rights movement, under the patriarchal system of the social and historical context of women have been favored by oppression, and the oppressed,so the feminist movement continues today. The conventional wisdom is that the Supreme Court often plays the role of facilitator and facilitator in the affirmative action movement. In fact, the Supreme Court's role has not been accomplished overnight, and it has included the tireless efforts of civil rights advocates.Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the first justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She is also the leader of the liberal side of the Supreme Court. She thinks about the civil rights issue from the perspective of a judge. Her thought of equal rights originated from the feminist movement but was not limited to it.This thesis attempts to study Ginsburg's thought on equal rights and judicial practice as a perspective of contemporary American equal rights movement. This thesis is composed of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction explains the reason for choosing Ruth Bader Ginsburg's thought of equal rights and judicial practice as the research object, the review of the academic history related to Ruth Bader Ginsburg's research, and the academic value of this paper. The text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces Ginsburg's growing experience and the influence of early feminists on Ginsburg. The second chapter explores the representative cases and ideological contents of Ginsburg's thoughts on equal rights, including changing the stereotype of social division of labor between men and women, opposing gender discrimination in campus, safeguarding women's right to have children, supporting ethnic minorities' right to education, safeguard their right to vote, oppose discrimination against immigrants, protect minors' right to privacy, and support gay and lesbian couples' right to marriage. The third chapter analyzes the influence of Ginsburg's thought of equal rights and his judicial practice.Accelerating the legislative process of protecting citizens' rights and enhancing the awareness of equal rights of citizens.Through the establishment of the image of legal "idol" to expand the impact on the concept of social freedom, the American affirmative action further developed. However,Ginsburg's thought of equal rights also has some limitations, mainly reflected in the excessive use of her right of free speech and the change to activism, which makes her lose her prudence as a judge. The conclusion part summarizes and improves this paper. It is pointed out that Ginsburg's thought of equal rights reflects the development of American freedom and has made outstanding contributions to the cause of equal rights movement.Ginsburg's thought of equality and judicial practice to protect the civil rights of vulnerable groups and defend justice of the United States is of great significance, but there are many problems in the judicial practice, conservatives curacy occupy the mainstream status, liberalism fails, and Ginsburg's age and cancer have put the court's liberal wing on the defensive.
