In Tanzania,"schoolgirls pregnancy" is a widely used term that refers to adolescent pregnancy in school. It refers to the pregnancy of adolescents who are still in school,in order to distinguish between adolescents who go to school and those who are out of school. The World Health Organization defines "adolescent pregnancy" as a female pregnancy between the ages of 10-19.The phenomenon of adolescent pregnancy is widespread in Tanzania mainland, which not only causes serious physical and psychological harm to adolescents, but also leads to the loss of educational opportunities. It is estimated that from 1959 to the present, schools in Tanzania mainland have been expelling pregnant students.Through questionnaire surveys and interviews, field surveys were conducted on two secondary schools in Tanzania mainland. The results show that the causes of early pregnancy among secondary school girls are mainly peer pressure, partner pressure and self-esteem.In addition, the root cause of early pregnancy among middle school girls is female legal protection, the lack of economic structure, the impact of economic restructuring and gender discrimination in social culture.Pregnant schoolgirls in Tanzania mainland were expelled and deported by the school, and the police arrested, detained and imprisoned pregnant female students and their parents, these students are also not allowed to re-enter school after childbirth.By comparing the neighboring countries of Tanzania, there are three different types of policies and practices for the phenomenon of early pregnancy among secondary school girls,expulsion,re-entry and continuing school. At the end of the article,I will combine the survey results and the experience of other countries to provide practical short-term suggestions to the Tanzanian government,non-governmental organizations and schools to deal with middle school girls and long-term suggestions to promote the development of Tanzanian women.
