Passports,as legal documents for individuals to prove their nationality and identity when they travel to and from various countries,must pass verification and information collection when they enter or leave the country.The traditional passport information collection relies on manual operation,which needs to check the entries of passport items one by one.Because the amount of information on the passport is very large and relatively scattered,if you input manually the passport information,not only the work efficiency is low and it costs a lot of time,but also the accuracy is difficult to guarantee.It is found that the machine readable passport code contains all the personal information of the passport holder,and has a fixed location and uniform format.If the machine readable code can be identified accurately,the information on the passport can be easily obtained.Based on this discovery,this paper designs the passport information intelligent recognition system.Through the analysis of the system requirements,the overall implementation scheme of the system is designed.According to the design scheme,the hardware part of the system is built and the software part of the system is developed.The functions and requirements of the passport information intelligent identification system are realized.The hardware part of the system includes the high-resolution camera and the upper computer to complete the capture and acquisition of passport information page.The system software is based on Python + Open CV to complete the pre-extraction of passport images,character recognition and interface display.First,the clarity of the passport image,the correction of the oblique image,and the extraction and preprocessing of the image of the machine-readable code area;Second,the open source optical character recognition(OCR)engine Tesseract is used to recognize the characters of the machine-readable code region,and uses character recognition optimization tools to train a large number of samples to improve the character recognition rate for problems with low recognition rates.Finally,pyqt is used to develop a passport information intelligent recognition system software interface to display detailed passport information.The passport face image display function makes the interface information more comprehensive.After the completion of the system design,online debugging is carried out.The experimental results show that the performance of the system meets the design requirements,and the efficiency and accuracy of passport information registration are effectively improved.
