Sexism in Ghana is an on-going struggle for women as there are deep cultural and traditional practices which hinder women and girls from enjoying and partaking in basic rights such as access to education and healthcare. These defects can be seen especially in the rural areas where gender gap is on the high. The researcher attempted to examine existing data findings from previous years about not only the perception of sexism in Ghana, but other factors such as education, religion, occupation etc.,to show and help explain the dynamics on the topic. The main objective of this study was to the investigate the construct of sexism and socialcultural discrepancies of gender roles in Ghana to check whether or not sexism has had any influence on gender roles and the involvement of women in decision making from the context of Ghana. In order to achieve the objectives, the study narrowed on data from the World Value Survey. The questionnaire used from World Value Survey to obtain responses for the participants was closed ended questionnaire with a two, three,or five-point Likert scale type of questionnaire. An independent two-sample t-test for equality of means was adopted for the study.Using this test there was a significant difference between 5 of the constructs tested. The study concludes that there is indeed a discrepancy between gender roles at the workplace,in the household and in governance which is largely accounted for by sexism.Hence it was recommended that, the government, parastatal agencies and civic initiate sufficient measures to reduce the issue of gender bias within the country.
