Since China's reform and opening up,China has emerged as the world's second largest economy,along with the high-speed development of economy is the people's living standard and health level greatly ascend,together with the past thirty years to strictly carry out the one-child policy,great changes have taken place in China's population structure,the low birth rate,low mortality rate and in crease of the average life expectancy for the elderly in the population proportion is becoming more and more big,aging degree deepening,the elderly group has increasingly become a not allow to ignore,their happiness also should get more attention of soc iety,Happiness should also be the ultimate goal of people's hard work and state policies.However,China's special dual economy and location factors,making urban and rural,regional income gap widening.Therefore,this paper studies the impact of income inequality on the happiness of the elderly in order to put forward effective policy Suggestions to improve the happiness of the elderly.Most existing literatures use a single index to measure happiness,and empirical research and analysis usually only use micro cross-section data of a certain year.Due to different data sources and backgrounds,there is no unified conclusion on the relationship between income inequality and happiness.This article embarks from the income inequality,select the gini coefficient measure of income inequality,life satisfaction,positive evaluation,negative evaluation three indicators to measure happiness,and combined with our country income inequality,the influence mechanism of happiness and income inequality and the current situation of the elderly,based on China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS)2011,2013 and 2015 panel data,using OLS and Probit measurement method empirical analysis income inequality influence on old people happiness,finally put forward some policy Suggestions according to the empirical results.The empirical results show that income inequality was significantly negative correlation between the old and,with the enlargement of the income gap between regions to reduce the elderly life satisfaction and their positive feelings,at the same time will increase their negative emotion,and income inequality in the role of negative emotions than positive emotions,shows that income inequality in the elderly is mainly the mechanism of action of relative deprivation feeling when happiness.Further observation of the difference in the relationship between gender,household registration and age samples shows that income inequality has a significant negative impact on the happiness of elderly women,while the male sample only has a significant positive correlation with negative evaluation.The main way for the urban hukou sample to be affected by income inequality is emotional evaluation,while the rural hukou sample is also affected by life satisfaction and emotional evaluation.People under 70 are more vulnerable to income inequality than those 70 and older.
