In the late of 20 th century,the global environmental situation has deteriorated day by day.Under the impetus of the environmental protection movement,the environmental history with researches the history about evolution of the relationship between human and nature came into being.As a new hotspot,Military environmental history in the research field of environmental history research,mainly focuses interactive relationship between human military activities and the environment,the interaction between military and environment,and development of human social productivity and changes in natural concepts manifested in the process.Under the information age background,the first Gulf War was a typical modern high-tech warfare.If examining it in the perspective of military environmental history,it will have profound historical and realistic significance.Under the guidance of modern military ideas and operational concepts,the United States have realized highly integrated operations of sea,land,and air,which has greatly reduced the time and manpower costs of the war by using a large number of high-tech technical weapons and electronic jamming systems.However,high-efficiency and highly efficient warfare has also brought unprecedented ecological disasters,the polluted natural environment and war activities have damaged to human health,the most typical thing is many veterans in the war have suffered from the Gulf War Syndrome.The full text is composed of three parts: the introduction,the main body of the thesis,and the conclusion.The introduction mainly explains the basis of selecting the topics,identifying the basic concepts is involved in the article,combing the relevant research status at home and abroad,and introducing the main documents and materials used in this article.The basic theoretical method was used in the article is clarified.The first chapter mainly sorts out the basic research paradigm of military environmental history.The military environmental history is developed from the history of the war environment history,It has certain academic value and practical significance to study the first Gulf War in the perspective of the military environment history.The second chapter explores the impact of the Gulf War on the naturalenvironment.Before the war officially broke out,military activities such as personnel deployment,weapon transportation,and garrison construction of the Iraqi Army and the multinational forces,the terrestrial environmental was seriously damaged in the gulf region.Military activities during the war caused comprehensive damages to atmospheric,terrestrial and marine environment.And the international community has made unremitting efforts to clean up other residues such as oil pollution on the sea surface and unexploded landmines.The third chapter discusses the impact of the Gulf War on human—the Gulf War Syndrome which also caused a series of controversies around the diseases.The concluding part explains the status and role of the first Gulf War in war history and during the Cold War,and further clarifies the theoretical paradigm of military environmental history studies the value and significance of the first Gulf War.In short,this article examines the damages to atmosphere,land,and marine environment in the period of preparation before war,the period of actualizing war and the period of ending war,and the international community's efforts to repair the environment under the basic research paradigm of military environmental history.The impact of the first Gulf War on human was explored about the issue of the Gulf War Syndrome.By studying the destruction of natural environment and damages to human health by modern high-tech wars represented by the Gulf War.The so-called“humanistic” and “clean” high-tech warfare has given human a clearer and deeper understanding of modern warfare.
